‘40 Years Volkswagen in China, Never Stop’: 40th Anniversary Celebrations Kick-off with Integrated On- and Offline Campaign

    • To celebrate its 40th anniversary in China, the Group is launching a comprehensive campaign, ‘40 Years Volkswagen in China, Never Stop’.
    • Volkswagen Group’s China’s Beijing headquarters, V-Space, will also take on a new look with a themed visual display.

Beijing, April 15, 2024.  From 1984 to 2024, Volkswagen Group has developed hand in hand with China. For 40 years, the Group and its brands have evolved, innovated, and grown together with the Chinese market, winning the trust and love of millions of Chinese car owners. Today, around 50 million customers drive a car produced by one of the Group’s brands. To celebrate its milestone anniversary, the Group is launching a comprehensive campaign, ‘40 Years Volkswagen in China, Never Stop’, alongside a series of innovative activities. All Chinese customers, employees, and partners are being invited to celebrate four decades of incredible moments and shared journeys together. With the anniversary milestone as a starting point, the Group looks forward to embracing a new journey ahead and reaching new heights with China.

The theme ‘Never Stop’ encapsulates in one phrase Volkswagen Group's spirit of continuous breakthroughs and advancements in China, and the acceleration of its development into the future. With a clear focus on its customers, the Group has never stopped in its commitment to foster positive collaborations, fulfil its social responsibility, create and innovate, and deliver best-in-class products.

Starting today, Volkswagen Group China’s Weibo and WeChat accounts, as well as its official website, have undergone a makeover with a brand-new key visual. The new 40th anniversary-themed design draws inspiration from the Group’s transformation journey in China. Through a continuously transforming shape, it showcases Volkswagen’s image as a pioneer actively embracing the future and constantly breaking new ground as it strives to innovate and change.

As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, Volkswagen Group China will also launch a series of innovative activities, including offline pop-up exhibitions, and an online ‘Beyond the Moment’ video series. Through these diverse range of activities, the Group will look back on memorable highlights during the past 40 years in China and revisit touching ‘Volkswagen stories’ with its customers, employees, and partners. Not only will the campaign commemorate the Group’s unremitting efforts in China, but also demonstrate the confidence and determination to forge ahead together through thick and thin.

Volkswagen Group’s China’s Beijing headquarters, V-Space, will also take on a new look for the 40th anniversary. In addition to showcasing classic car models, the building will also light up the Beijing skyline on one of the city’s busiest roads with a themed visual display. A new ‘Light Up the Building‘ WeChat mini-program will also be launched simultaneously on the Group’s WeChat account, presenting a virtual display of the V-Space light show. Everyone can participate in the Group’s anniversary celebration both online and offline, illuminating V-Space and lighting up the future of Volkswagen together.

With nearly 40 factories, over 3,500 dealerships, and about 50 million Chinese car owners, ‘40 Years Volkswagen in China, Never Stop’ is more than just a campaign slogan. It is shorthand for Volkswagen’s 40-year presence as a key part of Chinese society and its commitment to China’s future.

The past 40 years are just the beginning. In the future, Volkswagen Group will accelerate its ‘In China, for China’ strategy, continue to expand its local cooperation with its partners, old and new and, based on market trends, focus on the driving and in-car experience to meet the needs of Chinese customers.
